After removing the baskets, I first painted the entire piece with Zinsser BullsEye 1-2-3 Primer. Then I applied beige spray paint to the interior. (Brush painting the inside bars was a nightmare, so I gave up and bought three cans of Rustoleum high gloss beige and spray painted the entire interior cabinet.) For the enterior, I used Behr a light cream high gloss interior/exterior paint. To help prevent brush marks, I added a small amount of Flotreol paint conditioner.
Here's the end result. While it was nice, I thought it was too perfect and it didn't really show off the detail of the side paneling.
